History Bachelor of Science
The B.S. in History allows students to take advantage of the broad intellectual and career opportunities made possible by a History degree, giving them the chance to gain technological proficiencies while developing the critical thinking and writing skills of the traditional History major.
History Department
History courses emphasize written and oral skills, analysis and critical thinking, and the ability to assess conflicting interpretations. These skills prepare students for the responsibilities of citizenship and cultivate an awareness of the complexities of life. Studying history provides valuable preparation for careers in university and college teaching and research, primary and secondary education, law, government, public service, journalism, libraries and museums, international business, and medicine.

Undergraduate Program
The History major and minor are flexible and can be paired with almost any other degree on campus. Candidates are encouraged to create a topical, thematic, or chronological area of concentration, which makes the program personalized to interest.
Graduate Program
Graduates of our MA/MA and PhD programs not only learn about the past, they also develop a capacity for careful and rigorous thought, cultural competence, and abilities that promote success in careers throughout the global economy.
Guided Pathways
Guided Pathways will allow students to customize a learning experience specific to their interests and future career goals. Pathways include Pre-Law, Africa, Gender and Sexuality, Race and Ethnicity, Environmental History, and more.

Isabel Moreira published 'Balthild of Francia: Anglo-Saxon Slave, Merovingian Queen, and Abolitionist Saint'
This book tells the remarkable life of Balthild of Francia (c. 633-80), a seventh-century Anglo-Saxon slave who became a queen of France. Described in contemporary sources as beautiful and intelligent, she rose to power though her marriage to the short-lived King Clovis II.
