About
Stormy Shepherd is a U.S. Historian with an emphasis on The Vietnam War and The Korean War with minor fields in Southeast Asian History, and Gender and Postwar Conflict. Research interests include U.S. Military History, foreign policy, and transnational cultural exchanges, particularly where music addresses politics, power and society. Shepherd’s 30+ years as a music industry professional contribute to her in-depth study of the transnational impact of music during periods of conflict. In 2020, Shepherd co-founded the National Independent Talent Organization (NITO) and actively participated in the writing and passage of the Save Our Stages bill (Shuttered Venue Operators Grant). She and coalition members met with members of Congress to pass the $16B bill to benefit the hardest hit independent concert businesses during the Covid pandemic.In 2022-2023, Shepherd co-taught, “In Retrospect: Legacies of the American/Vietnam War from Diverse Perspectives,” with a travel abroad component to Vietnam. Shepherd remains committed to the advancement of reconciliation and dialogue between the U.S. and Vietnam through teaching and activism. Shepherd continues to operate as President of Leave Home Booking representing 50+ Artists and their national/international touring
